RAAKH=1989

Raakh (Ashes) is a Hindi film starring Aamir Khan, Pankaj Kapoor and Supriya Pathak in lead roles . The film was directed by Aditya Bhattacharya. It is said to be the First movie of Aamir Khan released after QSQT.


Aamir Khan stars as Aamir Hussain Khan (his real name), who gets into a fight with a hoodlum and as a result his ex-girlfriend (Supriya Pathak) is raped by the hoodlum. Aamir blames himself for her rape and decides to kill everyone who was involved in the rape issue. A cop (Pankaj Kapoor) who is also fed up of these hoodlums decides to help Aamir out looking at aamir's anger against them.


This movie will re-release in theaters in India on June 12, 2009 after 20 years. The importance of this film is that people who are now considered among Bollywood's best and the world's best are in this project. They include Aamir Khan, Pankaj Kapoor, and Santosh Sivan.The scheduled re-release has not happened due to certain undisclosed reasons.

Raakh picked up two National Film Awards in 1989.
