SYONOSIS :
After an impressive performance as a child artiste in Shekhar Kapur's Massom Urmila was dabbling with films as a grown-up for quite sometime but hadn't tasted success. If a phenomenon called Ramgopal Varma hadn't happened in her life, Urmila would have been relegated to pages of forgotten artistes. Rangeela's super success may be owed to a sensuous Urmila, a delightful peformance by Aamir and superb percussion music by A. R. Rahman.

Rangeela is the story of two friend who live in the same locality. Mili (Urmila Matondkar) a middle-class family and Munna (Aamir Khan), a black marketeer. Mili, as every Indian girl, dreams of making it big as an actress and is encouraged. She gets a break when a leading actor Raj Kamal (Jackie Shroff) spots her dancing on the beach and decides to be her mentor. Raj recomends her to movie director Steven Kapoor (Gulshan Grover) for the lead role in a movie titled 'Rangeela' opposite him. In the process, Raj and Mili get very close and Raj proposes to her. Munna is left in the cold as he too likes her. Will Mili marry Raj and live a life of glamour and wealth which she has been dreaming since childhood?
