As a dark festival grey Cadillac slowly rolled up to the Elgin Theatre in the heart of downtown Toronto, the chants of Aamir, Aamir, Aamir picked up steam from the hundreds of fans lined up to catch a glimpse of the star. And, the moment he stepped out of the car it was sheer pandemonium as he was instantaneously swamped by the ecstatic crowds who lined up for hours to see him live and in person.
In fact, in a show of uncontrolled happiness the crowds even crossed the streets of downtown, amidst oncoming traffic to be closer to the golden man of Indian cinema; giving security quite a hands full in controlling them.
Aamir looked the part of man of night, dressing in a dark suit and black shirt combination while wife Kiran Rao went with a beige and black number. The ladies of the cast - Monica Dogra and Kriti Malhotra wore designer formal gowns, light grey and orange in colour, respectively. The film's other male lead, Prateik Babbar coupled a black suit with a purple shirt.
Now that's what you call a helluva welcome!
Aamir Khan as a milkman? Well, that’s the star’s new role in a new commercial as the brand ambassador of TataSky.
The ad features a situation where one of the milkman’s customers offers to pay only for the days he was in town. The milkman's point of view is conveyed in a funny manner when he tells the customer that the cow was not aware of his vacation and hence gave milk every single day.
The milkman forcibly takes money from his customer even for the days he was on holiday. The ad revolves around once-a-year subscription holiday service being offered by TataSky. With this feature, subscribers can discontinue their service while on vacation for a period of 15 days once every year.
Meanwhile Aamir is preparing to fly to Toronto for the screening of his wife Kiran Rao's directorial debut ‘Dhobi Ghat’ at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
"Getting ready to leave for Toronto. First screening of 'Dhobi Ghat' on Sep 10 at the festival. Too many nervous days too close together," Aamir posted on his Facebook page.
The film festival is on from September 9-18.
In ‘Dhobi Ghat’, Aamir plays the lead role of a painter. Set in Mumbai, the film revolves around four people who are separated by class and language but drawn together in compelling relationships.
Pratiek Babbar also plays a key role in the film.
