SCRIPT IS KING: 3 IDIOTS TOOK 3 YEARS TO DEVELOP !

Since time immemorial filmmakers have unanimously accepted the fact that a successful film and a good script go hand in hand, yet in most cases script is the last thing that is on the minds of the filmmkers.

However, one filmmaker has defied the norms and his peculiar brand of seriocomic socially realistic cinema has proved to be a massive hit with all. Yes, it's Rajkumar Hirani and his trusted lieutenant, screenplay writer Abhijat Joshi, who place utmost importance on script. And believe it or not, the script of the All Time Blockbuster hit, 3 IDIOTS took three years and two months to be completed!

Abhijat reveals that most of the film was written over cell phone conversations (Abhijat teaches English literature in the US), and so the telephone bills were huge. The film developed over a period of time and there were many brain storming sessions that led to debates on each and every character and their portrayal on screen. Even in case of LAGE RAHO MUNNA BHAI, Abhijat discloses that a seven minute montage (Munna telling listeners to follow Gandhigiri on his radio show), took over eight months to write!

Sweet is the fruit of labour and Abhijat and Rajkumar Hirani have proved beyond doubt that nothing works like a good script!
FOLLOW YOUR HEART ALWAYS : AAMIR KHAN

Aamir Khan says that every time he listens to his heart, his films have been a hit. “If there is a story that touches me and makes me cry or laugh, I want to work in that film. It has often happened in my career that I have liked a particular film, and people around me have told me not to work in that film because it will not be a hit. But I have never listened to them, I have always listened to what my heart has told me and that is one reason why those films have always been hits,” says Aamir.

Khan, who recently met some children at an event, gave them gyaan on how to become successful and happy. “I told them to follow their hearts. You should do work that gives you happiness and helps you move ahead in life,” says Khan.

Aamir also addressed the need for a change in the educational system. The actor, who played a path breaking character of a teacher in Taare Zameen Par, says, “Teachers usually give a lot of importance only to the students’ marks. They shouldn’t pay attention to the kid coming first, but to the one who comes last.”
